About The Position

The Diesel Mechanic ensures that the company equipment is serviced, repaired, and maintained as required by DOT and Manufactures Warranty(s). The Diesel Mechanic will work directly with leadership of Transportation to ensure compliance of Parts 393 & 396 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation (FMCSR).

Requirements

  • 1+ years Heavy diesel mechanic experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical College/Certificate in lieu of experience preferred
  • DOT Break certified preferred.
  • Valid driver's license (CDL Strongly Preferred)
  • Experience driving yard jockeys/tractors and tractor trailers preferred

Responsibilities

  • Use diagnostic equipment to access and identify engine, transmission and electrical potential failures and abuse.
  • Oversee Truck/Trailer shop services
  • Properly documents truck/trailer maintenance
  • Monitor to assure the vehicle maintenance program is following the FMCSR and applicable laws.
  • Monitor inventories of all oils, lubricants, and Diesel Exhaust Fuel (DEF)
  • Maintain vehicle fueling systems assure pump operational and filter changed.
  • Maintain proper truck/trailer tire rotation and tracking program.
  • Assure all equipment stays road worthy.
  • Ensure maintenance shop is a safe and clean work environment
  • Conduct 10% inventory inspection of tools and equipment
  • Order maintenance parts, equipment, and lubricants
