About The Position

The position involves working as a Diesel Mechanic for Dayton Freight Lines, where the individual will perform maintenance service that meets the company's quality standards. The role requires a fundamental understanding of repairing and rebuilding components on 48ft. and 53ft. dry van trailers, including various mechanical and electrical components. The Diesel Mechanic will also be responsible for conducting preventative maintenance inspections, maintaining welding and metal fabrication skills, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• Possess a valid Driver's License.
• Basic math skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Able to pass a drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance service on diesel vehicles and trailers.
• Repair and rebuild components on 48ft. and 53ft. dry van trailers.
• Repair suspension and running gear components.
• Repair landing gear assembly and components.
• Repair wheel components and tires.
• Repair brake and air components.
• Repair electrical, lighting, and wiring components.
• Repair rear frame and door components.
• Repair side, nose, and roof components.
• Repair interior and floor components.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs.
• Maintain a high level of welding and metal fabrication skills.
• Perform service calls as needed.
• Wash and fuel equipment when necessary.
• Road test vehicles to ensure quality repairs.
• Assist and guide junior technicians.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Record all work and labor in the EMS system.
• Work with the Parts Department to maintain proper inventory levels.
• Comply with EPA regulations and company safety requirements.
• Perform other maintenance duties as assigned.
