About The Position

TCAT is currently offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus to qualified Diesel Mechanics. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to obtain your Commercial Driver’s License by receiving paid training from our highly-skilled internal team of FMCSA Training Providers. As a Diesel Mechanic at TCAT, you will be part of a cohesive, unionized shop team with robust administrative support. Your skills and experience in preventative maintenance, routine repairs, and electrical/mechanical diagnostics are vital to keeping our fleet compliant, efficient, and road-ready. Major repair work could include engine overhauls or replacements, automatic transmissions, drive line, differential, air brakes, body modifications, etc. Schedule: Shop operates Monday-Friday, around the clock. Shift scheduling is determined by a seniority-based bidding process three times each year and new hires can expect to start on third shift. Work location is TCAT Headquarters on Willow Ave with occasional local road calls.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three (3) years’ experience repairing diesel engines in a transit environment; however, previous heavy-duty or automotive experience and relevant certifications will be considered!
  • A commitment to safety, strong communication skills, the ability to read and follow written instructions, the ability to work with a team as well as independently, and proficiency with computers and sensor tools is a must.
  • The successful candidate must provide their own tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in airbrake diagnosis and repair, Cummins engines and Allison transmissions are a plus.
