This is a hands-on, high-skill role maintaining and repairing the heavy mining equipment that keeps salt extraction running safely and on schedule. Your Day-to-Day Diagnose, repair, and rebuild heavy mining equipment including haul trucks, wheel loaders, bulldozers, conveyors, cranes, and personnel transport vehicles Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems to OEM standards Perform preventative maintenance — fluid levels, lube points, and routine inspections Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists, hand tools, and pneumatic tools Perform arc/MIG welding on broken parts and structural members Utilize technical drawings and diagnostic testing equipment to isolate and correct faults Clear fault codes, troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, and execute full repairs Complete accurate shift paperwork and work logs at the end of each shift Train co-workers and new team members Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations What We're Looking For Experience & Certifications 5+ years of heavy equipment or industrial shop mechanic experience required Diesel mechanic, heavy mechanic, or CAT certification required CAT certification strongly preferred; line boring experience a plus 1 year of CAT SIS Program experience preferred Hydraulic systems repair experience required Arc/MIG welding experience required (arc welding highly preferred; TIG not applicable) Knowledge of Tier 4 engines and DPF systems Underground welding experience a plus Note: This is not a fleet or light-vehicle role — full repair mechanics only Technical Knowledge Proficient diagnosing malfunctions across dozers, loaders, excavators, haul trucks, compressors, pumps, and related systems Ability to operate lifting devices and perform component-level repairs including engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer programs Education & Other High school diploma or GED required Must be able to read, comprehend, and speak English Able to lift 50+ pounds regularly and work in varying temperatures year-round Must comply with all PPE requirements Background check and drug screening required prior to start (allow up to 2 weeks) No sponsorship available Shift & Schedule Days: 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM | Overtime available Nights: 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM | Overtime available; self-starters preferred Rotating Saturdays: Alternating weeks (6 days on, 5 days on) Ready to Apply?
