About The Position

The position involves maintaining GFL Environmental's fleet of Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles, ensuring they are in safe and continuous 'road ready' condition. The role requires advanced diagnostic and repair skills, as well as the ability to mentor junior mechanics. The mechanic will play a crucial role in supporting the company's mission to provide sustainable waste management services to communities.

Requirements

• Advanced ability to diagnose and repair Diesel and CNG powered trucks.
• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and related regulations.
• Brake safety certificate and 609 A/C system certification required.
• ASE Certifications preferred.
• Ability to understand and interpret detailed schematics and manuals.
• Effective communication skills across various organizational levels.
• Experience using diagnostic software and computer literacy.
• Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.
• 5+ years of diesel/CNG maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair Diesel and CNG powered trucks, including engines, electrical systems, and fuel systems.
• Lead inspections of brake systems, engine components, emission systems, and other critical parts.
• Mentor level B and C mechanics, providing guidance and support.
• Prioritize repairs to maximize efficiency and ensure timely completion of work orders.
• Oversee the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedules.
• Perform DOT and brake inspections on all vehicles.
• Complete reports, work orders, and order parts as required.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain safe working conditions.
• Interpret intricate electrical and diagnostic schematics.
• Participate in training classes to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Maintain a clean work area.
