Job Summary: The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will assist with preventive maintenance and repairs of diesel equipment in the ship to make electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs on equipment such as excavators, loaders, scrapers, motor graders, on road fleet, and more.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age, as required by the Spriggs company insurance policy.
Technical School Certificate and 2 years of related work experience or 5 years of related work experience.
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Demonstrated history of safe, reliable work habits
Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair heavy earthmoving equipment
Working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions
Strong Communication Skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to travel extensively, including overnight
Ability to work for long periods of time performing tasks that may require repetitive lifting, standing, kneeling, sitting, grasping, twisting, and climbing stairs/ladders.
Ability to work evenings and weekends when required
Ability to lift of up to 60 pounds
Prior to your starting date, we require successful completion, as determined in our sole discretion, of a pre-employment criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Follow all safety rules and regulations when performing work assignments.
Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on all fleet equipment.
Make mechanical repairs to equipment after completion of inspection and analysis of breakdown.
Record complete repair description on work order, including the correct model and the serial number of equipment and record hour meter reading.
Lubricate moving parts and operates repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
Maintain the professional image of self and service truck by focusing on cleanliness and presentation.
Maintain an acceptable driving record and follow all rules and regulations related to having a CDL
Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.
