About The Position

The Diesel Mechanic position at Indiana University Bloomington's Campus Bus Service is a full-time role responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of heavy-duty diesel-powered public transit vehicles. The Campus Bus Service has been a vital part of the university since 1966, providing transportation to over three million rides annually across a six-route system. The mechanic will collaborate closely with other maintenance team members to diagnose, test, adjust, and repair various systems of the buses, ensuring they meet safety and operational standards. This role involves performing routine and scheduled maintenance services according to manufacturer specifications, as well as troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues using standard testing procedures and computer diagnostic equipment. In addition to repairs, the mechanic will maintain inventory, restock parts, and keep detailed records of repairs and preventative maintenance. The position may also require responding to road calls and performing general garage duties as needed.
