Now Hiring: Diesel Marine Mechanic Join the Experts at Diversified Marine Services Are you a technician who thrives on tackling complex marine engines and delivering exceptional results? Diversified Marine Services is looking for a Diesel Marine Mechanic to bring deep expertise, leadership, and craftsmanship to our growing team. What You’ll Do In this critical role, you will perform top-level service, diagnostics, estimates, and repairs—primarily on diesel engines and generators across all makes and models. From intricate troubleshooting to routine maintenance, your days will include: Communicating directly with clients to clarify needs, document key details, and exceed expectations Diagnosing issues, developing precise repair strategies, and completing repairs at the highest standard Performing routine and interval maintenance, winterizations, and commissionings Conducting engine surveys, testing, and sea trials Producing accurate, detailed, and timely service reports Scheduling and managing your own billable time to help meet or exceed team financial objectives Traveling to marinas and private slips within approximately 30 miles Keeping work areas meticulously clean and safe, protecting vessels, parts, vans, and shops Contributing to our reputation by treating each job as if it were your own boat Mentoring and training junior mechanics, and stepping in to help other teams as needed Exploring cross-training opportunities if you’re interested in broadening your skillset

Requirements

  • Extensive working knowledge of marine industry standards, best practices, and products, with expertise in diesel engines and generators of all makes and models
  • Ability to read and apply service manuals, bulletins, and technical data like second nature
  • Solid working knowledge of boats’ electrical and mechanical systems
  • Commitment to safe practices with deep awareness of hazards and PPE requirements
  • Willingness to ask questions when a task is outside your current scope—knowing that protecting the vessel, the team, and the client always comes first
  • Independence to handle projects from start to finish, including researching technical data, building material lists, acquiring parts, managing schedules, and meeting timelines
  • Proactive communication to coordinate with customer support, customers, and cross-functional teams, keeping everyone informed throughout the process
  • Integrity, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude
  • High School Diploma or GED (minimum)
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications from Cummins, Yanmar, Northern Lights, ABYC, or similar highly preferred
