About The Position

SUMMARY Maintain and repair mobile equipment, including diesel-powered, gasoline-powered and electric vehicles, generators and auto shop equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as power and drive trains, electrical, fuel, emission, brake, steering, and hydraulics. Perform adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units. Conduct regular vehicle inspections and diagnostic tests to identify worn and damaged parts. Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems, including, but not limited to, diesel and gasoline engines, transmission, mechanical and electrical steering, suspension, and air brakes. Maintain scissor lifts, boom lifts, and ancillary equipment. Communicate directly with the Maintenance Manager on the status of repairs, parts required, and estimated time needed for repairs. Complete all tasks assigned in a timely manner, maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work, and submit receipts of purchases and services provided by third parties. Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations. Train and educate maintenance department to assist with maintenance of mobile and ancillary equipment. Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Vital Link, International Standards Organization (ISO9000), OSHA, EPA, ASME, ANSI, state regulations, policies, industry best practices. Correct and report any deviations to appropriate area managers/supervisors. ISO9000 SPECIFIC DUTIES Be familiar with and understand Vital Link Quality Policy and company objectives. Understand required ISO9000 specific Procedures and Work Instructions. Complete all records required by Procedures and Work Instructions. Participate in Vital Link Continuous Improvement activities as appropriate. Participate in ISO9000 training as required. Cooperate with Auditors. Report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum five years of diesel mechanic service experience (preferably forklifts, manlifts, skid steers, frontend loaders, tractors, diesel trucks, generators, and/or similar heavy equipment); or ASE diesel mechanic certification (or equivalent) and minimum of three years of diesel mechanic work experience.
  • 12 VDC / 24 VDC automotive electrical experience required.
  • Full color vision to differentiate colors of wires and other components.

Nice To Haves

  • Up to 48 VDC experience is preferred.
  • Single-phase and three-phase electrical experience from 110VAC up to 480VAC is preferred.
  • ASE diesel mechanic certification preferred
