We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. To accomplish this, we develop plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, develop test environments, and work hand-in-hand with our customers. The Mission Capability Verification Center within Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities is searching for qualified Diesel Generator Technician to support program test operations with our team at White Sands Missile Range, NM. This position is an onsite role a WSMR located in White Sands, NM. Test events may occur over weekends or holidays, and may require extended hours. Primary tasks will include generator support, equipment movement, site establishment and site sustainment locally on WSMR and multiple testing locations globally. Candidates will collaborate with the program team to support multiple generators and sites to achieve timely execution and completion of established goals, as well as support general facility maintenance. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance including PMCS/engine services and troubleshooting. The candidate will work in an engineering environment to support and facilitate testing of engineering hardware in accordance with customer and internal requirements and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve common goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems in real time.
  • Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class “A”
  • Experience with medium voltage generators
  • Familiarity with US Army Technical Manuals
  • Familiarity with load banking generators
  • Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and proper storage of chemicals
  • Ability to work across different domains and disciplines
  • Familiarity with VOLVO, Cummins, Caterpillar
  • Certifications/Qualifications within a supporting trade (i.e, Electrical, HVAC, Automotive)
  • Ability to independently prioritize work in alignment with schedule and budget

Responsibilities

  • Support mission execution test events for our radars or missile flight tests, which could include travel to various sites on range
  • Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of tasks
  • 50% travel is required to support assigned systems. Travel is both within WSMR and to other US locations, with the possibility of global support.
  • Provide support in a field-testing environment
  • Drive Class A Vehicles
  • Operate Power Generators
  • Logistics for site support/movement coordinator
  • Assist with electrical setup and inspection
  • General facility maintenance
  • Support to MCVC as needed outside of primary duties
