About The Position

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is actively seeking talented Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanics to become part of the Cumberland County Maintenance Organization! This role involves a certified and proficient mechanic with expertise in both automotive and heavy machinery. The individual is tasked with performing a variety of analytical evaluations, preventive maintenance, and repair operations on a wide array of equipment, which encompasses construction machinery, trucks, automobiles, and an assortment of hand tools. The position requires working with both gasoline and diesel engines, with a focus on maintaining peak performance and dependability.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program; or
  • Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License.
  • Must possess a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess a valid Pennsylvania Class 1, 4, or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment.
  • Experience operating vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.

Responsibilities
