The Technical Control Facility (TCF) Operator at KBR is responsible for the administration and maintenance of various data systems, including computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment such as servers, desktops, printers, and storage devices. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of communication systems at the Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia, a remote location in the British Indian Ocean Territory. The TCF Operator will maintain, install, upgrade, and configure data systems, administer operating systems, and uphold basic security and recovery procedures, including scheduling and backups. Under direct supervision, the operator will assist in monitoring, responding to, configuring, installing, and repairing hardware and software problems according to established procedures. The TCF Operator will operate and maintain the TCF in accordance with DISA Circular 310-70-1, providing voice and/or data signals to subscriber tenant commands, Satellite Communications, and the cryptographic site. Responsibilities include managing communication equipment, monitoring data connectivity, activating new circuits and/or trunks, performing quality control checks, and responding to emergent tasking. The operator will also monitor HF transmitters, manage frequency databases, and maintain EKMS/KMI local element accounts. This position requires standing watch in the Technical Control Facility and coordinating the complete processing of telecommunications signals, including satellite transmission and reception paths. In addition to technical skills, the TCF Operator must possess strong communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, other departments, and subcontractors. The role demands the ability to work quickly in a potentially high-stress environment while maintaining signal quality and determining points of signal deterioration using various test equipment. The operator will prepare and maintain circuit quality, outage logs, and reports, ensuring that all telecommunication equipment is operated, tuned, tested, aligned, inspected, patched, and configured as necessary to meet operational requirements. The TCF Operator will also assist the Watch Leader and ensure space cleanliness in accordance with established SOPs, performing other work-related duties as assigned to meet organizational and operational objectives.
