About the position

Under the direct supervision of the Press Area Manager, the Die Set Technician is responsible for the complete operation of a transfer press, including changeovers and the identification of improvements. The technician will maintain the responsibilities and essential functions of a Die Set Technician, having complete knowledge of die setting, press parameters, and the ability to start the press from a complete shutdown condition. The role involves initiating press production runs to a continuous mode, performing quality inspection checks, and ensuring all inspection strategies are followed. The technician will also transport dies, perform die setups, and changes according to the production schedule, while ensuring all rail setups are hooked up correctly and working properly. Additionally, the technician will train part packers, maximize job efficiency, document issues, and work closely with the Press Improvement Team to optimize press utilization and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the responsibilities and essential functions of a Die Set Technician.
  • Have complete knowledge of die setting, press parameters, and the ability to start the press from a complete shutdown condition.
  • Initiate press production runs to a continuous mode.
  • Perform quality inspection checks, First Off/Last Off inspections, and all 'Inspection Strategy' procedures.
  • Transport dies, perform die setups, and change dies in the transfer press according to the production schedule.
  • Perform all rail setups and ensure they are hooked up correctly and working properly.
  • Install, position, and align dies on the bolster.
  • Train part packers on how to perform their job properly.
  • Maximize each job/die when it is in the press.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through documented Team discussions.
  • Document all issues with a die and/or press in detail and communicate those issues to the Press Improvement Teams.
  • Work with the Press Improvement Team, Tool & Die, and Maintenance to optimize press utilization, changeover time, press repairs, and die repairs.
  • Make gripper adjustments, end stop adjustments, and adjust coil feed parameters to minimize press downtime.
  • Perform small maintenance repairs as needed.
  • Strictly adhere to all safety regulations according to company policy.
  • Establish and maintain excellent housekeeping habits.
  • Perform other essential functions as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School / GED or better.
  • 1 year of experience with Transfer Press.
