About The Position

As a Die-Press Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining blade punch presses and progressive dies, ensuring quality standards, and suggesting cost-effective manufacturing improvements according to Wood-Mizer standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Up to 3 years of operating of a variety of presses
  • Able to work with and read micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators
  • General math knowledge
  • Mechanical aptitude

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the blade punch press and progressive dies.
  • Maintain quality records of blade material before and after punching the blades.
  • Make suggestions on better, more cost-effective ways of manufacturing W-M blades.
  • Sets up and operates a variety of light to medium presses to perform repetitive work.
  • Must perform manual operation only, using pre-sheared and blank-size stock for a variety of materials.
  • Adjusts mechanical knockout devices and ram stroke.
  • Performs minor repairs of dies and determines when maintenance is required.
  • Arranges workplaces, furnishes materials and manufacturing information, and demonstrates operation of equipment to lower-level operators.
  • Monitors operation of equipment during production run and makes any necessary adjustments.
  • Operates a variety of light- to medium-duty presses
  • Adjust the mechanical knockout device and ram stroke.
  • Be able to lift 50-75 lbs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
