About The Position

The Die Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of manufacturing dies used in production processes. This position focuses on the inspection, repair, and preventive maintenance of dies to minimize downtime and maintain product quality. The technician collaborates closely with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions. By maintaining precise and well-functioning dies, the role directly contributes to efficient manufacturing operations and cost control. Ultimately, the Die Maintenance Technician ensures that all tooling meets safety and quality standards, supporting continuous production flow.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in die maintenance, tool and die repair, or a related manufacturing maintenance role.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment and follow established safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification or vocational training in tool and die making or industrial maintenance.
  • Experience with CNC machinery and programming related to die maintenance.
  • Familiarity with welding, brazing, and metal fabrication techniques.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on dies to identify wear, damage, or misalignment.
  • Diagnose and repair die components, including cutting, grinding, welding, and polishing as needed.
  • Collaborate with production staff to quickly resolve die-related issues and minimize production delays.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used for each die.
  • Assist in the setup and adjustment of dies during production changeovers to ensure proper operation.
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules to extend die life and improve reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality standards during all maintenance activities.
