Die Cutter Assistant

About the position

The position involves working as part of a team to support a manufacturing operation with the goal of increasing productivity, decreasing downtime, and minimizing waste. The role requires active participation in overall plant facilities-related work and assisting with all jobs on the plant floor. Adherence to safety rules and procedures is critical, including lockout tag-out procedures. The individual will maintain the shop and equipment according to 5S standards and may need to lift up to 30 lbs for extended periods. Responsibilities include setting up and operating machines to produce products per customer specifications, troubleshooting, performing minor repairs, and conducting preventative maintenance on machines. The role also involves training helpers, performing quality checks, and completing necessary reports accurately and timely. The individual must be comfortable with computers and touch screens, cross-train on other machines, and comply with food packaging safety programs and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team to support manufacturing operations.
• Assist in overall plant facilities-related work.
• Follow all company safety rules and lockout tag-out procedures.
• Maintain shop and equipment per 5S standards.
• Lift up to 30 lbs for periods of up to 12 hours.
• Set up and operate machines to produce products according to customer specifications.
• Troubleshoot, perform minor repairs, and conduct preventative maintenance on machines.
• Train helpers as required.
• Perform quality checks and take appropriate action when needed.
• Complete necessary reports including Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, and Quality Data.
• Input maintenance work orders into BPMS software.
• Switch duties with Assistant Operator or Helper if necessary.
• Comply with the facility's food packaging safety program.
• Complete annual food packaging safety training.
• Report any discovered food packaging safety risks to management.
• Adhere to production schedules and optimize them to meet goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and around machinery.
