About The Position

The Assistant Sales Manager assists the Store Sales Manager in all aspects of store operations, including generating store profits by maximizing sales and controlling inventory and expenses. In the absence of the Store Sales Manager, the Assistant Sales Manager assumes full duties and responsibilities, except for staff supervision duties. The position requires working on opposite shifts to the Store Sales Manager and performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Sales Manager in achieving monthly sales plan projections through personal selling and management endeavors.
  • Maintain a well-trained staff of Sales Associates who can promote the company's products and image.
  • Use inventory guidelines to maximize sales and stock turnover.
  • Develop a regular clientele and service their needs within company guidelines.
  • Recognize industry trends and report them to the Store Sales Manager.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive activity and communicate issues to the Store Sales Manager.
  • Implement clearance procedures and damage out procedures for defective/damaged goods.
  • Manage staff to maximize customer service needs during peak periods.
  • Ensure all staff complete company-required training programs.
  • Supervise Sales Associates during shifts when the Store Sales Manager is not on duty.
  • Implement company merchandising principles and standards for sales floor display.
  • Set up signage and display for catalogs, advertisements, and promotions.
  • Ensure all stock is represented on the sales floor and adhere to company housekeeping policies.
  • Assist in controlling payroll guidelines and variable expenses.
  • Ensure day-to-day activities are carried out according to company policy.
  • Account for all merchandise movement into and out of the store.
  • Check for accuracy in paperwork and POS system to prevent fraud.
  • Assist in preparing for and taking physical store inventories.
  • Maintain overall physical sales floor presentation and report major repair needs.
  • Enhance job knowledge and management skills for future advancement.
