Responsibilities Accountabilities 1. Prioritizes, organizes, and delivers patient and technical care in a timely manner as delegated by CP/RN. 2. Assesses patient condition prior to initiation and during dialysis. Performs 30 minute checks of patient and documents any change in patient’s condition. 3. Interacts with health care team to support and reinforce patient/family teaching plan. 4. Assists in planning department maintenance and shares responsibility for ensuring adequate supplies. Performs technical duties related to opening and closing of the unit and reuse procedures. 5. Practices cost efficient use of supplies and linen. Follows established charge procedures for patient charge capture. 6. Identifies potential problems, plans preventative intervention, and reports potential problems with equipment to the Dialysis Technician 2. 7. Assesses water system and dialysis machine readiness. Performs technical duties with machines and water system under the direction of the Dialysis Technician 2 and Manager. Detects water or machine system difficulties, recognizes faulty or inoperable equipment and reports it to Dialysis Tech 2 for immediate repair. 8. Answers unit call lights and responds to patient needs or communicates to appropriate member of healthcare team. 9. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required Two years of college with course work in science, medical electronics, or health science preferred Experience 1 year of medical experience, CNA, EMT, Phlebotomy or equivalent required Licenses and Certifications CAHT - State of California Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) required BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required CCHT - Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician preferred Disclaimers Pay ranges listed are an estimate and subject to change.
