About The Position

The RN Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing nursing services during each shift, functioning as a nursing supervisor. This role involves daily supervision of staff, ensuring effective clinical and operational processes to enhance patient health and minimize hospitalizations. The RN Charge Nurse also plays a critical role in medication administration, compliance with healthcare regulations, and emergency response within the clinic.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Experience in a supervisory or charge nurse role preferred.
  • Knowledge of dialysis services and protocols.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a clinical setting related to dialysis or nephrology.
  • Certification in nursing leadership or management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee nursing services each shift and function as a nursing supervisor.
  • Provide daily supervision of staff on duty during operational hours.
  • Assist with clinical and operational processes to improve patient health and minimize hospitalizations and missed treatments.
  • Demonstrate effective use of supplies and staff labor hours.
  • Complete and document monthly review of patient medication profiles.
  • Administer medications as ordered by the physician.
  • Assist physician during patient rounds and transcribe and implement physician orders timely.
  • Assist with the implementation of anemia management and medication protocols as requested.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including health care professionals practice act requirements.
  • Perform duties within limitations established by company policy and applicable laws.
  • Respond to all emergencies in the clinic.
  • Communicate results of patient assessment, reassessment, and ongoing monitoring to the physician and team members.
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with the Medical Director and physicians.
  • Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary team in patient assessment and care planning activities.
  • Assist in orientation of new staff as a preceptor or in assigning a preceptor.
  • Act as a resource person and participate in implementing and evaluating dialysis services.
  • Assist Administrator in interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and disciplinary actions of center staff.
