About The Position

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at US Renal Care, you will be an integral part of a cross-functional team providing care and delegated activities of treatment to patients. The PCT will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Charge Nurse (CN) for patients with renal failure. This role involves direct patient care, ensuring safe, comfortable, and high-quality dialysis treatment, as well as technician duties related to preparing and maintaining hemodialysis machines. The PCT is also responsible for adhering to safety measures, company policies, and regulations, and participating in ongoing training and education.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Desire to work in healthcare and care for patients
  • Must be comfortable mixing acids and bicarbonate according to protocol
  • Ability to distinguish all primary colors
  • Successful completion of USRC training program approved by the Medical Director, including demonstrated competency
  • Successful completion of USRC training course in the theory and practice of hemodialysis within 8 weeks of hire
  • CPR certification required within 90 days of hire or as required by the state
  • Patient Care Technician certification must be obtained through a state certification program or national commercially available certification program within 18 months of hire date and maintained in good standing thereafter

  • Previous healthcare experience in dialysis, phlebotomy, or as a CNA

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with patients to provide safe, comfortable, and high-quality dialysis treatment
  • Gather patient stats before and after treatment
  • Initiate treatment
  • Monitor patients during treatment
  • Terminate treatment
  • Collect patient blood samples per physician orders
  • Prepare machines for hemodialysis treatments
  • Clean and disinfect machines after treatment
  • Conduct machine safety checks and log results for quality control, ensuring all protocols and regulations are followed
  • Use appropriate safety measures, including personal protective equipment
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and state/federal laws and regulations
  • Participate in all required staff meetings and continuing education offerings
