About The Position

UPMC Somerset is seeking a Diagnostic Technologist to join their team of life-changers! This position will work Fridays and Saturdays 7pm-7am and 2 daylight shifts Tuesdays-Thursdays. As a Diagnostic Technologist, you'll perform imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. UPMC is excited to offer a generous sign-on bonus of $10,000 with a 2-year commitment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification from ARRT approved school of completion of program and scheduled graduation date.
  • Technologists hired before graduation will have indirect supervision by an ARRT certified diagnostic technologist until the degree is verified.
  • ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist. Must obtain radiography registry within 6 months of hire date.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

Responsibilities

  • Identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocol for procedures.
  • Review patient history and physician orders, applying departmental protocols.
  • Document patient history in electronic records as needed.
  • Administer PO and rectal contrast per physician orders and department policy.
  • Ensure exams are coded, tracked, networked to ISITE, and charges entered.
  • Perform diagnostic radiography procedures independently using established protocols.
  • Use complex imaging equipment for data acquisition, analysis, and documentation.
  • Interact with patients and co-workers with care, respect, and teamwork.
  • Perform technical procedures with independent judgment and appropriate radiation use.
  • Communicate instructions clearly to patients, explaining procedures to ease their fears.
