About The Position

The Diagnostic Technologist – Outpatient’s primary responsibilities include the positioning of the chest, hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, knee, foot or ankle in preparation for x-ray. The Diagnostic Technologist performs imaging procedures at a level not requiring direct supervision, operates X-ray equipment, processes images and documents into PACS. The Diagnostic Technologist provides basic patient care under the supervision of the clinic nurse. They may perform selected procedures as defined in the Patient Care Standards Manual. Patient care would include: obtaining vital signs, placing patients in exam rooms, obtaining specimens including blood draws if qualified, preparing patients for clinician evaluation, and assisting clinician. The Outpatient Diagnostic Technologist will also see that the area is orderly and well stocked with supplies and equipment. The Diagnostic Tech-Outpatient may also float to Main Radiology.

Requirements

  • Previous hospital, back office, or non-emergency clinic services experience
  • Current full Certificate of Radiologic Technology issued by the Department of Health Services, State of California (CRT) (to be obtained within 6 months of hire)
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Fluoroscopy Permit (to be obtained within 6 months of hire)
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of human structure and function, patient care, positioning, principles of radiographic exposure and quality assurance
  • Must have medical terminology knowledge
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Must demonstrate technical competence
  • Capable of using computer software programs
  • Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients and public
  • Must show sensitivity for the patient and family
  • Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position

Nice To Haves

  • One-year experience in an Ambulatory Care setting
  • Current licensure issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Phlebotomy skills and general knowledge of point of care laboratory equipment desired
