Part-Time Diagnostic Technologist – UPMC Williamsport Join Our Team and Make a Difference in Patient Care! UPMC Williamsport is seeking a Part-Time Diagnostic Technologist to join our dedicated imaging team. Schedule: Two weekdays (typically day shift) Every other weekend Two holidays per year Why Join Us? $5,000 Sign-On Bonus for qualified applicants Work with advanced imaging technology in a supportive team environment Opportunities for continued learning and career development Position Summary: The Diagnostic Technologist performs imaging procedures at a technical level that requires independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. You will apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification of program completion with a scheduled graduation date.
  • Candidates hired prior to graduation will work under indirect supervision by an ARRT-certified diagnostic technologist until degree verification.
  • Technologists cannot work in an outpatient setting until ARRT certification is obtained.
  • ARRT Registry Eligible as a Radiologic Technologist
  • Must obtain Radiography Registry within 6 months of hire (effective January 1, 2025).
  • Diagnostic Technologists hired prior to January 1, 2025, must obtain registry within 12 months of hire/transfer.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR Certification (AHA standards including both didactic and skills demonstration) within 30 days of hire.
  • If working in a New York facility, certification from ARRT or NMTCB and licensure through the New York State Department of Health is required.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocol during procedures
  • Review patient history, assess physician orders, and apply departmental protocols for optimal imaging results
  • Document patient history in the electronic record as required
  • Administer oral and rectal contrast per physician orders and department policy
  • Ensure proper coding, tracking, and archiving of exams in RIS and ISITE systems
  • Perform diagnostic radiography procedures independently using established protocols
  • Operate complex imaging equipment for acquisition, analysis, and documentation of image data
  • Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures and alleviate concerns
  • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and respect in all interactions
