The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist performs computerized axial tomographic scanning of heads and/or bodies. This role involves directing the work of one or two lower grade technologists/technicians when procedures require assistance. The technologist helps to develop internal monitors and coordinates and conducts studies to evaluate the quality and appropriateness of patient care provided by the radiology department. They perform a full range of diagnostic CT examinations/procedures, including but not limited to neuro, chest, abdominal, pediatric, extremity, body, and muscular skeletal. The technologist administers oral and intravenous contrast material while observing Universal Precautions, as indicated by exam protocol, interview, and screening process. They also assist radiologists during CT guided biopsy and aspiration procedures, and help in the training of other Radiologic Technologists and On the Job Trainees (OJT), documenting training as necessary.
