The diagnostic navigator for Breast Health is a registered nurse who identifies and provides guidance to patients in eliminating potential barriers to care. The nurse addresses both the art and the sciences of breast healthcare and redefines the patient's experience. They provide emotional support and education for patients who have received an abnormal mammogram from detection of the abnormal finding through diagnosis. They serve as a consistent care coordinator within the multidisciplinary Breast Health Center to facilitate care, help with information, and support during the time in between waiting for results.
