About The Position

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer serves as a healthcare provider under the supervision of a physician, providing essential medical imaging services to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role involves preparing examination rooms, operating ultrasound equipment, ensuring patient safety, and delivering preliminary reports based on sonography examinations.

Requirements

• Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography School.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (preferred).
• Basic computer skills and experience with RIS systems and PACs.
• Certification from ARDMS or CCI in Vascular, or obtain within six months of hire.
• ARDMS registration in either Abdomen or OB/GYN.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment for sonography examinations following safety protocols.
• Ensure patient safety during sonographic examinations.
• Review patient medical history and clinical information prior to examinations.
• Evaluate contraindications and patient readiness for examinations, documenting any limitations.
• Utilize proper patient positioning and ergonomically correct techniques to ensure comfort and safety.
• Review examination images and synthesize results to prepare preliminary findings.
• Provide preliminary reports of sonography examinations for interpreting physicians.
• Assist in the daily operations of the sonography department.
• Operate FUJI (PACS) and Cerner Millennium systems.
• Assist in the education and training of sonography students and physician residents.
• Obtain additional credentialing as required by regulatory agencies.
• Model and maintain Nuvance Health Values.
• Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as required.
