About The Position

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Position Summary The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer performs high‑quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures on patients of all ages in accordance with approved protocols, ultrasound safety standards, and established clinical indicators. This role is responsible for scheduling exams, obtaining accurate patient histories, assessing the appropriateness of requested studies, and assisting radiologists with imaging needs. The Sonographer maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of imaging equipment, procedures, and supplies to ensure consistently high‑quality exams. This position requires effective communication with patients, families, and internal teams, tailored to each patient’s age and cognitive ability. Some travel between clinical sites is expected.

Requirements

  • Education Bachelor’s Degree in Science or an Allied Health field preferred.
  • Licensure Requirements Idaho Primary Work State: Must obtain an Oregon license within 90 days of hire. No services may be provided in Oregon without an active license.
  • Certifications RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer – ARDMS): Required. If not currently registered, must obtain RDMS within one year of hire as a condition of continued employment.
  • ABD (Abdomen) and OB/GYN registries – ARDMS: Required within one year of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers: Required at hire (AHA, ARC, or Military Training Network).

Nice To Haves

  • ARRT (Radiologic Technologist): Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures following established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Schedule patient exams and collect relevant medical histories prior to imaging.
  • Evaluate exam requests for clinical appropriateness and consult with radiologists as needed.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of ultrasound equipment, instruments, and supplies.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients of varying ages and mental capacities.
  • Assist radiologists with procedures and provide high‑quality imaging for interpretation.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards, licensure requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Travel between designated clinic sites as needed.
