About The Position

OVERVIEW Atlantic Health System is seeking a full-time Diagnostic Medical Physicist for the Radiation Physics & Safety Department at Morristown Medical Center to work 8:30am-4:30pm including on-call. RESPONSBILITIES Essential Function/Responsibilities: Maintain a QA program that includes testing of diagnostic & interventional imaging devices consistent with regulatory & accreditation requirements. Perform acceptance testing as needed, on imaging devices ensuring State, ACR, MQSA & Joint Commission compliance. Perform radiation shielding calculations. Review & approve policies and procedures. Consult in imaging equipment planning. Monitor radiation dosimetry for personnel. Calculate & monitor patient dosimetry. Educate staff & physicians as needed, on QA programs and radiation safety principles. Teach Physics as part of the Radiology Resident Program. Perform other duties as assigned. Primary coverage will be at Morristown Medical Center, with cross-coverage for other AHS facilities. This position will report to the Manager/Chief Physicist. Manage the Radiation Safety Program as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) at some of the AHS facilities, ensure compliance with regulations on radioactive material use and x-ray equipment, and provide 24/7 radiation safety support during emergent situations.

Requirements

  • MS in Medical Physics (or related field)
  • Minimum 5 years clinical experience preferred
  • Proficiency in all imaging modalities with a prominent expertise in CT
  • Must be qualified or eligible as an RSO as per NRC regulations
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint applications
  • ABR certification in Diagnostic Medical Physics or Nuclear Medical Physics or ABMP certification in Diagnostic Imaging Physics.
