Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED Plus Graduation from an accredited Medical Sonography Program
  • Registered Diagnostic Sonographer
  • Must be registry eligible
  • Must complete registration within one year of employment
  • Current CPR required

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiac ultrasound experience, including treadmill and pharmacologic stress testing
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) within one year of hire

Responsibilities

  • Sets up for and assists the physician or licensed provider with procedures and examinations.
  • Sets up for and assists with Transesophageal studies, including patient monitoring and manipulation of ultrasound equipment controls.
  • Performs all required online and offline measurements, calculations, and velocities of acquired images.
  • Recognizes distinct types of cardiac diseases and pathology.
  • Immediately reports critical findings to the reading cardiologist(s).
  • Initiates IV access as needed and according to UAMS policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes and administers contrast (perflutren or bubble) according to UAMS policies and procedures and documents correctly, as evidenced by quarterly performance improvement data.
  • May perform other duties as assigned
