About the position

Under the supervision of the Manager for the Diabetes Program, this position is responsible for the development and delivery of JC Inpatient Diabetes Certification (IDC) Standards; development, implementation, and evaluation of diabetes-specific education to hospital staff; and the delivery of care and education to select patients and families. Responsible for the implementation and utilization of information systems required for patient care initiatives. Evaluates applications or vendors to best meet the needs of the organization. Provides technical training and support to end users.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver JC Inpatient Diabetes Certification (IDC) Standards.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate diabetes-specific education for hospital staff.
  • Deliver care and education to select patients and families.
  • Implement and utilize information systems for patient care initiatives.
  • Evaluate applications or vendors to meet organizational needs.
  • Provide technical training and support to end users.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Five (5) years of RN nursing work experience.
  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist by the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES) required within one year.
  • Or a Master's degree in a nutrition focused field, and a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration from The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, with five years of clinical experience.
  • Current South Carolina licensure as a registered nurse or compact state.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
