About The Position

The Diabetes Care and Education Specialist position is a part-time role that involves a hybrid work location, combining remote work with in-office responsibilities at 612 E. Lamar Blvd, Arlington, Texas 76011 and the Command Center located at Texas Health Dallas. The position requires 24 hours of work between Monday and Friday, specifically from 8 am to 5 pm, with mandatory work on Mondays and Fridays. The department emphasizes a collaborative team approach, work/life balance, and innovation within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetic, Food Science or Related field required.
  • Master’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetic, Food Science or Related field preferred.
  • 2 years certified diabetes care and education specialist required.
  • 3 years clinical nursing experience required or 3 years registered dietitian experience.
  • CDE/CDCES - Certified Diabetes Educator/Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist within 12 months of hire required.
  • CDCES is highly preferred.
  • CPR - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation upon hire required.
  • RN - Registered Nurse upon hire required or LD - Licensed Dietitian upon hire required or RD - Registered Dietitian upon hire required.
  • CDR - Commission on Dietetic Registration Certification upon hire required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetic, Food Science or Related field.

Responsibilities

  • Educate and assist patients with diabetes through appropriate evaluation and teaching methods.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to improve inpatient diabetes care, education, and glycemic management.
  • Apply business principles, systems practice, and population health management to support achievement of the Quadruple Aim (reduced costs, better outcomes, improved experience, and improved work life for healthcare providers).
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and clinical diabetes expertise serving as a clinical expert and resource for others.
  • Partner with the interdisciplinary care team to assist with glycemic management in the inpatient diabetes population.
