About The Position

The DHS Child Support Re-Entry Coordinator is responsible for providing direct services and intensive case management to justice-involved parents, facilitating their transition from incarceration back into the community. This role involves extensive collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Tennessee Department of Corrections and local child support offices, to support parents in navigating child support processes and accessing available resources. The position requires a proactive approach to identify and address barriers faced by these individuals, ensuring a smoother reintegration into society.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social services, human services, corrections, re-entry, or child support case management.
  • Three years of full-time professional experience in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain it.
  • Completion of a criminal history disclosure form and agreement to release criminal history records.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in case management systems and Microsoft tools.
  • Knowledge of child support laws and government regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, initiate, and monitor Child Support modification reviews for incarcerated or justice-involved parents.
  • Utilize case management systems and Microsoft tools to record and track demographic and case information, incarceration history, and program progress.
  • Provide intensive case management and/or direct services for justice-involved parents who have been recently released.
  • Collaborate with Tennessee Department of Corrections (TDOC), local jails, and child support offices to support incarcerated parents scheduled for release.
  • Meet with parents inside TDOC facilities to answer child support questions and provide information regarding services available upon release.
  • Present program information in TDOC hosted classes and attend resource fairs to provide program and contact information.
  • Attend meetings, seminars, and statewide outreach events to exchange ideas and share best practices.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community stakeholders to identify available resources and services.
  • Act as a liaison between justice-involved parents and local Child Support field offices and partners.
  • Assist child support offices with service of processes, hearings, and various child support matters.
