About The Position

Requirements

• Qualification to NWCG standards as a Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2).
• High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
• Ability to operate motor vehicles and travel extensively throughout Colorado.

Nice To Haves

• Previous wildland fire or fire service experience.
• NWCG wildfire qualifications of Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) or higher.
• Medical certifications such as Wilderness First Responder or Emergency Medical Technician.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a firefighting resource assigned to a helitack crew.
• Engage in fire suppression and mitigation projects, including prescribed fire and hazardous fuel reduction.
• Assist with training programs and preparedness activities.
• Participate in wildland firefighting activities and incident response.
• Construct fireline, clear vegetation, and perform structure protection.
• Operate pumps and install hose lays and water delivery systems.
• Assist with safety inspections and maintain tools and equipment.
• Participate in physical conditioning activities for up to one hour each day.

Benefits

• Paid sick leave, accruing one hour for every thirty hours worked (capped at 48 hours).
