Role Summary We are seeking a DFM Valor Engineer to support and execute Design for Manufacturability (DFM) activities for automotive Electronic Control Unit (ECU) products. In this role, you will work closely with hardware and PCB design teams, primarily focusing on performing detailed DFM analysis using Mentor Valor NPI and related tools. The ideal candidate will have up to 5 years of experience with Valor and a foundational understanding of Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) processes and industry standards.

  • Perform Valor DFM Analysis on PCB designs for manufacturability, ensuring compliance with established rulesets for spacing, solderability, and assembly constraints.
  • Work with engineering teams to provide early-stage DFM feedback on new ECU products.
  • Generate and maintain documentation for DFM analysis reports and findings.
  • Assist in the creation and management of Valor Part Library (VPL) and design rulesets.
  • Support DFM report generation and process automation efforts, potentially using scripting tools like VBScript or Python.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for DFM-related build issues and support recommended design changes.
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field and equivalent experience
  • 1–5 years of hands-on experience using Valor DFM tools (Panel Design, DFM Analysis).
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610 Class 3).
  • Basic understanding of PCBA manufacturing processes and common component placement constraints.
  • Experience with scripting for automation (VBScript, Python).
  • Familiarity with other EDA tools and basic netlist verification.
  • Previous exposure to the automotive electronics industry and its quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949).
