About The Position

Position Summary: This position is responsible for operating sewage, fats, oil and grease and sludge waste processing and disposal equipment in septic and wastewater processing plant to produce quality effluent water in compliance with federal, state and local requirements. Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Requirements

  • Required a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to successfully pass drug screen and physical exam.
  • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.
  • Must be able to meet physical demands evaluation.
  • Strong mechanical and treatment processing background with an understanding of pumps, valves, blowers, and hydraulics.
  • Basic math skills, and basic computer skills. (Word, Excel)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred a one-year certificate from college or technical school; or greater than one-year related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work prioritizing safety and compliance.
  • Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.
  • Monitors control panels and makes adjustments to the plant operations as needed.
  • Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets instrument, meter and gauge readings and test results to determine process control needs.
  • Responsible for operating equipment associated with receiving, headworks, chemical addition, filtering, settling, and sludge processing etc.
  • Maintains plant log of all operations events and records important parameters.
  • Conducts routine plant laboratory tests such as total suspended solids, chemical oxygen demand, pH etc.
  • Ensures that pumps, valves, instruments, plant equipment and other waste water treatment equipment are functioning properly.
  • Monitors equipment for potential failures and may make minor repairs or adjustments as needed.
  • Build proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the areas of operation at the treatment facility.
  • Perform plant maintenance and cleaning, including but not limited to troubleshooting, repairs, preventative maintenance and documentation of work performed.
  • Calibration, cleaning and documentation of process instrumentation like Conductivity, pH, Temp and other meters and instruments as needed.
  • Perform and document daily plant process parameters, testing results and discharge volumes etc. including collecting all necessary samples for testing at our in-house laboratory and outside laboratories as required.
  • Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and test results to determine process control needs.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
