About The Position

Alaska Northstar Federal (ANF) is currently seeking a DevOps Engineer to join the team remotely on a long-term project. The role demands collaboration with stakeholders, cross-functional technical teams, and end users to advance both user-centric design and accessibility best practices in accordance with federal and DoD standards.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Candidate must have an active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Candidate must have an active Security+ CE (or equivalent)
  • Candidate must have at least 10 years of experience in the following:
  • Knowledge of secure enclave architecture and deployment.
  • Knowledge and experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform).
  • Expertise in scoping, work breakdown, and cost estimation for new system capabilities, onboarding and migration efforts.
  • Understanding of KPIs and metrics for infrastructure (e.g., CPU usage, network throughput) and security (e.g., access logs, intrusion detection).
  • Ability to implement security monitoring techniques, including anomaly detection and threat analysis.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
  • Familiarity with DevOps pipelines and practices (CI/CD) to enhance the continuous delivery of code and system improvements.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with stakeholders, including senior leadership, technical teams, and governance bodies.
  • Ability to document and communicate technical and governance outcomes clearly and concisely.
  • Team collaboration skills to work across departments and with Capability Delivery Teams (CDTs).
  • Experience managing tickets, facilitating meetings, and leading team efforts for smooth onboarding, migration, and governance processes.
  • Ability to align software development and system engineering practices with federal regulatory requirements, including audit readiness and documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with setting up and managing Impact Level (IL) 2, IL4, and IL5 environments (DoD Cloud and security standards).
  • Proficiency in conducting TIMs and managing migration task lifecycles.
  • Experience with integrating Oracle Cloud Infrastructure PaaS and IaaS components.
  • Experience with disconnected operations.

Responsibilities

  • Builds, scripts, and tests Infrastructure as Code and Compliance as Code to apply security configuration(s) to cloud resources upon (or after) deployment.
  • Writes CaC and IaC for both cloud native service deployment and for hosted application deployment to cloud services in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure environment.
  • Provides cloud service expertise to cloud-deployed applications, assisting application developers with integrating application-specific components into available cloud services.
  • Secures cloud service and application resources according to industry standards and cloud provider best practices and collects and provides evidence for security baseline adherence.
  • Prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of IaC when necessary, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of IaC intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
  • Works within Agile SDLC framework to include performing work activity within two- to three-week sprints, participating in daily scrums, and utilizing sprint tracking software to track and communicate individual work activity to stakeholders.
  • Works to build disconnected systems that can separate from and rejoin cloud environments.
