About The Position

Our client is a Chicago based proprietary trading firm that builds high performance automated trading systems for global derivatives markets. The DevOps Engineer will work closely with software engineers, traders, and quantitative researchers to support low latency trading platforms and core infrastructure. This role focuses on automation, system reliability, observability, and infrastructure across on premises, co located, and containerized environments. This position requires on site work in Chicago. Fully remote work is not available.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of full time professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or a related role
Experience supporting high performance or mission critical systems
Proven experience troubleshooting application, operating system, and network issues in production environments
Strong proficiency with Linux and Windows operating systems
Scripting experience using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Ruby
Experience with containerization technologies and modern deployment practices
Familiarity with databases and observability or monitoring tools
Experience working with data formats including JSON, XML, and Parquet
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross functionally
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
Strong attention to detail with a focus on documentation and process
Ability to work on site in Chicago, IL
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required

Nice To Haves

Experience in financial services, trading, or low latency environments
Experience supporting on premises or co located infrastructure
Familiarity with infrastructure as code and automation tools
Experience participating in on call support rotations

Responsibilities

Collaborate with software engineers, traders, and quantitative researchers to ensure system stability, reliability, and performance
Design, build, and maintain automation for infrastructure, workflows, and system operations
Develop tools that improve system reliability, observability, and operational efficiency
Troubleshoot complex issues across applications, operating systems, and networks in production and staging environments
Deploy, configure, and maintain applications using configuration management and infrastructure as code practices
Manage and support containerized environments across on premises and co located data centers
Support database administration, monitoring, and performance tuning
Implement and maintain logging, monitoring, metrics, and alerting solutions
Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
Participate in on call or rotation based support during critical trading hours
