About The Position

As a DevOps Engineer at Quantifind’s HQ in Palo Alto, California, you will play a critical role in managing the infrastructure for Quantifind’s systems. Our stack includes fleet management in an IT fashion, fleet management in a Datacenter fashion, back-end services and infrastructure, machine learning modules surfaced through REST APIs, and React-based front-end web applications. As a member of our DevOps Team, you will have a big impact on how we build, automate, and scale our technology and processes. You will work closely with DevOps engineers, solving problems, automating deployments, and championing best practices. Our technology includes: Ubuntu, Ganeti, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, git, Hadoop, Nagios, PostgreSQL, Jenkins, and in-house Scala and NodeJS applications. We deploy to our own data centers and to AWS. Quantifind’s development team is centered in Palo Alto, California, and we have technology hubs in Atlanta, Georgia, and in Washington, D.C. Quantifind is currently using a hybrid mix of working from home and in the office, with regular in-person touchpoints and shared office space.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional industry experience, in addition to your academic experience
  • Strong development experience using Python and Bourne shell
  • Experienced in Linux administration with a preference for Ubuntu package management
  • Experience with virtual machine cluster management
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration
  • Experience with network, host and application security practices both on prem and in the Cloud
  • Experienced using Ansible for configuration management tools
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Nagios, Munin, Prometheus, and Zenoss
  • Experience with release engineering tools like Maven, Jenkins, etc.
  • Experience with Apache Airflow for orchestration
  • Experience with uptime/availability engineering, performance metrics, and monitoring
  • Familiarity with network design, operation and troubleshooting
  • Excellent communication, presentation and collaborative problem-solving skills
  • Great team player who has a strong desire to change the way people use their data and have a huge impact on a small team

Nice To Haves

  • Some coding experience with a higher level language such as Go or Rust is a plus
