About The Position

The DevOps Engineer III supports the Texas Health and Human Services Commission by designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud -native solutions that enable secure, scalable, and automated application delivery. This role works closely with development, security, and operations teams to improve coordination across the software lifecycle through automation and CI/CD best practices. The position emphasizes AWS -based architectures, Infrastructure as Code, containerization, and operational excellence. The DevOps Engineer III plays a key role in improving system reliability, deployment efficiency, and alignment between IT operations and business objectives. Work is performed in a hybrid environment with a combination of onsite and remote duties.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience working with AWS services, including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, and VPC.
  • 8 years of experience using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.
  • 8 years of experience developing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
  • 8 years of hands -on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • 8 years of experience with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or ELK stack.
  • 8 years of experience with Linux administration, scripting (Python and/or Bash), and version control using Git.
  • Candidates must currently reside in Texas and be local to the Austin area within a 50 -mile radius.
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, when pre -approved.
  • Pre -approved travel may be required and must comply with State of Texas travel policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack.
  • Experience with performance tuning and high -availability strategies.
  • Experience with serverless architectures and event -driven workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cloud -native architectures leveraging AWS services.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployments.
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to streamline workflows and enforce DevOps best practices.
  • Automate operational processes to reduce manual effort and improve scalability.
  • Support containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes platforms.
  • Perform Linux administration and scripting to support cloud and deployment environments.
  • Assist with performance tuning, high availability, and reliability strategies as needed.
