About The Position

The Skokie Park District's Devonshire Extended summer camp program seeks a Seasonal Camp Director at The Devonshire Cultural Center. Campers aged 5-12 receive extended care before and after their day camp. There are perks for joining the SPD Team! Our seasonal staff are eligible for free membership to our health club, Fitness First, free golf and a free pool pass during their seasonal employment The Devonshire Extended Camp Director is expected to conduct and oversee the camp program in its entirety. Plans, leads, and supervises camp activities for children aged 5-12. Provides a safe, organized, age-appropriate camp experience for the extended campers. Supervises a staff of 5 program leaders and 40 campers. The director will always perform their duties in accordance with the policies and procedures of The Devonshire Cultural Center and the Skokie Park District. The camp director maintains accurate records, attends meetings, attends scheduled training and performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, including staffing day camps with substitute program leaders. Hours: Camp begins Monday, June 8, 2026, and runs through Friday, August 14, 2026. Hours are generally 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 3:30-6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Must be available to attend camp training Saturday May 30 and the week of June 1. Additional evening trainings the week of May 25 (TBD). No camp June 19 or July 3. This job falls in paygrade PT5. Requirements

  • Must be an energetic, responsible adult at least 21 years of age with a High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D)
  • Must enjoy working with school-aged children
  • Must possess excellent leadership, supervisory, communication and presentation skills
  • Must be able to maintain valid CPR, AED and First Aid Certification - the District will provide certification training if needed

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer individual with degree in Education, Parks and Recreation or related field but not required for this position
