The Developmental Specialist at TOTS Early Intervention is responsible for coordinating and providing services to families under the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). This role involves direct interaction with children and families, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professionalism. The specialist will engage in assessments, develop intervention strategies, and collaborate with team members to promote optimal child development.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all information regarding clients and employees of Tresco.
  • Proficient in oral and written communication skills, present all paperwork required in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Interact with colleagues and all stakeholders professionally and in a manner consistent with policy.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and participate in on-going staff development.
  • Ensure 55% of your time at work is billable time (face to face, home visits, team consultation, community consultation, evaluations, assessments, IFSP meetings).
  • Assist Family Service Coordinators in developing IFSPs.
  • Conduct and/or actively participate in screening, assessment and comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluations.
  • Accurately prepare appropriate assessment summaries, reports and recommendations in collaboration with other team members within required timelines.
  • Provide direct service to eligible children and their families based on an IFSP.
  • Plan for and implement home visits and other interactions designed to address IFSP outcomes for children and families.
  • Collaborate and consult with other team members to promote optimal child and family development and needed family services without duplication, gaps or delays.
  • Provide intervention and developmental support to children and families with multiple, complex risk factors.
  • Provide services only within the scope allowed under the awarded level of certification.
  • Receive Developmental Specialist Certification within one month of hire to bill.
  • Renew Developmental Specialist Certification within required timeline.
  • Participate in reflective supervision at least once a month.
  • Conduct Vision & Hearing screenings.
  • Assure compliance with accreditation and state licensing standards.
  • Provide appropriate client data to be entered in the database in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate in Curriculum planning with other Early Intervention Teams.
  • Accurately maintain children's working files according to accreditation standards.
  • Coordinate Community Projects, Child Find, Screenings, etc. as directed.
  • Accurately complete daily activity logs and submit within required timelines.
  • Implement Home based and Center based program for assigned children.
  • Work with individual children or in small groups.
  • Accept and implement special projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • Seek growth in the profession to keep abreast of new techniques, equipment and materials.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a flexible, active team member.
  • Possess a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Ability to continually demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, or other presentation software, Outlook, and database management software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to identify and resolve programmatic issues.
  • Ability to work in a complex, rapidly changing environment.
