About The Position

The Developmental Playgroup Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the growth and development of young children through structured play and interactive activities. This position focuses on creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that encourages social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. The assistant collaborates closely with lead educators and caregivers to implement age-appropriate playgroup sessions tailored to meet the diverse needs of children. By observing and engaging with children, the assistant helps identify developmental milestones and supports individualized learning goals. Ultimately, this role contributes to fostering a positive early childhood experience that lays the foundation for lifelong learning and well-being.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting.
  • Basic knowledge of child development principles.
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with health and safety standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid for infants and children.
  • Experience working with children with diverse developmental needs or special needs.
  • Familiarity with developmental screening tools and observation techniques.
  • Bilingual abilities or experience working in multicultural environments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and facilitating daily playgroup activities that promote developmental skills across multiple domains.
  • Create and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for children and their families.
  • Support children’s social interactions by encouraging cooperative play and positive communication.
  • Observe and document children’s progress and behaviors to inform program adjustments and report to lead staff.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to provide updates and support family engagement.
  • Help prepare materials and set up spaces for activities, ensuring all resources are age-appropriate and accessible.
  • Follow all health, safety, and regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance and well-being of participants.
