The intern will work within the Licensing and Implementation Section for Legal Affairs at the New York Power Authority (NYPA). Specifically, the intern will work with attorneys and subject matter experts (SMEs) on: (i) license compliance and relicensing for NYPA's hydro generation facilities; (ii) permitting bulk electrical transmission projects, including participating in confidential settlement discussions before the NYS Department of Public Service (NYSDPS), New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and other intervener groups; (iv) Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES) and (iii) immigration/work visa matters. The candidate may also work with other Sections within Legal Affairs on matters related to renewable generation, nuclear siting, energy policy, contracts, procurement, etc. The ideal candidate would be in their first or second year of law school. (Summer between 1l and 2l or 2l and 3l). The candidate would be expected to work either out of NYPA's White Plains office or Albany Office at least 2 days a week and remotely the remainder of the week. Our paid 10-week Summer Developmental Internship program runs from June 2 - August 7, 2026.
