About The Position

At the New York Power Authority, you will be empowered to think big, do good, and transform the energy industry. The intern will work within the Licensing and Implementation Section for Legal Affairs at the New York Power Authority (NYPA). Specifically, the intern will work with attorneys and subject matter experts (SMEs) on: (i) license compliance and relicensing for NYPA's hydro generation facilities; (ii) permitting bulk electrical transmission projects, including participating in confidential settlement discussions before the NYS Department of Public Service (NYSDPS), New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and other intervener groups; (iv) Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES) and (iii) immigration/work visa matters. The candidate may also work with other Sections within Legal Affairs on matters related to renewable generation, nuclear siting, energy policy, contracts, procurement, etc. The ideal candidate would be in their first or second year of law school. (Summer between 1l and 2l or 2l and 3l). The candidate would be expected to work either out of NYPA's White Plains office or Albany Office at least 2 days a week and remotely the remainder of the week. Our paid 10-week Summer Developmental Internship program runs from June 2 - August 7, 2026. Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with competing priorities
• Ability to work both independently and collaborate as part of a team
• Provide positive customer service for internal and external stakeholders
• Enrollment in an associate’s, undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university is required.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States for the duration of the internship from June 2 - August 7

Responsibilities

• Research industry trends and emerging technologies to contribute to the continuous improvement of our programs
