Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Medical Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, written and verbal communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to reproduce a reference method using available procedures without supervision.
  • Demonstrated analytical and scientific competency with development and/or validation of lab techniques or procedures.
  • Proficiency in software for word processing, database management, statistical analysis, and presentations (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Maintains a record of scientific presentations and peer-reviewed publications.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty, and prevailing regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, evaluating, and implementing new test/equipment, methodologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual and scientific guidance of laboratory directors and staff consultants.
  • Improvement of existing methods or implementation of new technology of proven validity.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation of data generated and work performed.
  • Organizing new method validation data, preparing data for publication and peer review, and participating in formal presentations within the institution.
  • Aiding in the investigation, installation, evaluation, and purchase of laboratory equipment, instrumentation, reagent systems, and other specialty items.
  • Participates in the training of laboratory staff, residents, and students in principles of methods and application within the laboratory as needed.
