About The Position

As a Development Technician, the primary responsibility is to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to quality, safety, product development, and process maturation. This role requires proactive communication with team members to ensure project timelines, build events, and quality targets are consistently met. Technicians must collaborate across shifts to identify trends and address potential issues early. Providing timely and accurate feedback to other departments is essential. A positive, solutions-oriented attitude and reliable attendance are expected to support team performance and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
  • Forktruck license preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Applications (e.g. word, excel, outlook, etc).

Responsibilities

  • Tooling development and activities to support maturation & capital
  • Prepare and set new dies, roll tooling, hydraulic cutoffs, ect. To designed intent
  • Initiate changes to tools as needed
  • Support the install of new capital
  • Ensure preventive maintenance is performed on development machines and all associated equipment; initiate scheduling of activity
  • Take detailed notes of adjustments and changes required to develop tooling
  • Perform machine adjustments per documented instructions and procedures.
  • Perform three-pass alignments per documented instructions and procedures.
  • Maintain tooling and ancillary equipment (Press, dies, cutoffs, sweep units, ect.)
  • Utilize Engineering Drawings and Roll Tool principles to troubleshoot machine maturation or quality issues.
  • Set-up jobs per documented instructions and procedures.
  • Set up and precisely align all related equipment in accordance with established procedures and documented work instructions.
  • Troubleshoot machine development and maturation issues.
  • Shim tooling/fixtures per documented instructions and procedures.
  • Create, implement and document process improvements.
  • Utilize hand measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, tape measure and feeler gages) to ensure accurate set-up of jobs and part quality.
  • Weld coil ends together using tungsten inert gas welding (or other means if required by the job and/or work center).
  • Set and adjust roll pressure per documented instructions and procedures.
  • Set shut height on the pre-pierce press and make proper adjustments to flying die.
  • Demonstrate proficiency on inline welders.
  • Install and place mandrels according to set-up charts.
  • Demonstrate proficiency sweeping parts to specification and fine-tuning mandrel.
  • Perform cutoff blade, die steel, side cam and other perishable cutoff tooling replacements per documented instructions and procedures.
  • Conduct process monitoring as detailed by relevant procedures and instructions.
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement and problem solving activities.
  • Support quality guidelines as detailed in control plans, operator instructions, set up instructions, etc.
  • Maintain clean work area.
  • Attend and participate in Machine Technology Reviews, Capital Assessments, & Design Reviews for new tooling and equipment
  • Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as directed by the leader.
