About The Position

Are you a detail-driven professional passionate about environmental protection and exceptional customer service? If so, join our team of Development Services Technicians (DST) in the Air Quality Department. As a DST, you will serve as the primary point of contact for the regulated community seeking services from the Air Quality Department. Key responsibilities include issuing Vapor Tightness Certification Decals, registering subcontractors, and assisting customers with permit applications, notifications, payments, and registrations. You will also provide essential internal support by maintaining and updating the department’s electronic database, ensuring data accuracy, and sharing information with internal and external stakeholders in a timely and professional manner. Your work will contribute to the department’s mission of improving the air of Maricopa County so customers, residents, and visitors can live, work, and play in a healthy environment.

Requirements

  • Two years of administrative and customer service experience
  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • Experience with databases (including geographic data) and document review for regulatory compliance
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Strong customer service and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Issues vapor tightness certification decals and processes subcontractor registrations in accordance with program requirements.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for businesses, contractors, individuals, and government agencies, providing information and assistance online, in person, and by phone.
  • Explains and guides customers through the County’s online permitting process and, account setup for various permit types and directs inquiries or complaints to the appropriate teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Performs administrative and front desk functions, such as answering and routing calls, managing voicemail, processing mail, maintaining organized filing systems, and supporting daily office operations.
  • Maintains and updates departmental databases to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Supports continuous program improvement through the development, documentation, and optimization of standard operating procedures and workflows and provide backup assistance for DST Senior and DS Lead functions as needed.
