About The Position
If you're a strategic thinker with strong engineering expertise and leadership acumen, Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is looking for you to serve as the Development Services Office (DSO) Engineering Manager (Mgr. 3). In this role, you will oversee the plan review process for water, drainage, and wastewater, ensuring new development projects align with SPU's technical and regulatory standards. As the DSO Engineering Manager, you will be at the center of Seattle's most complex development challenges. From setting infrastructure requirements and resolving utility conflicts to interpreting development codes and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, your work will directly shape how Seattle grows. You'll collaborate with developers, city departments-including Seattle Department of Construction & Inspections (SDCI), Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT), and Seattle City Light-and internal SPU teams to find solutions that support both private development and public infrastructure goals. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, regulatory frameworks, and urban development, as well as the leadership skills to guide a team of professionals in navigating technical and regulatory issues.
