About The Position

The Development Services Administrator will be responsible for performing highly complex planning activities involving advanced planning and special projects for the City of Corpus Christi. This position conducts research, provides data, makes recommendations, and implements solutions to achieve department goals and objectives. Ability to facilitate development projects thorough process, and interpret and apply Federal, State, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations related to the assigned area.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Development Services with municipal government, building construction, subdivision, municipal building plans, zoning review, or permit issuance
  • Minimum of two (2) of those years must include supervisory or administrative experience
  • A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered
  • Obtain ICC Permit Technician certification and ICC Code Specialist certification within 18 months.
  • A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or related field highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support goals.
  • Recommend and implement goals and objectives. Establish performance standards and methods for the business services activities.
  • Oversee and coordinate the design, implementation, maintenance, and administration of the enterprise permitting system.
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and control of automated permitting, reporting, and mapping systems.
  • Participate in budget preparation and administration; prepare cost estimates for budget recommendations.
  • Participate in the selection of staff; coordinate staff training; conduct performance evaluations; recommend discipline; implement discipline procedures as directed.
  • Perform legislative monitoring for its impact on business services activities and operations.
  • Evaluate business needs and operations and recommend and implement technology improvements and modifications to streamline and/or automate activities.
  • Investigate complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
