About The Position

Under the direction of the Assistant Public Works Director/City Engineer, coordinate development plan and permit reviews on behalf of the Public Works Engineering division and assist in managing bonding, submittals and final acceptance of development projects pre and post construction.

Requirements

  • Requires an associate's degree in a STEM related field.
  • Requires one-year related work experience with development, plan review, inspections, surveying, drafting, Public Works operations, or similar duties.
  • Valid Utah Driver's License required.
  • Ability to read, understand, and review civil engineering plan sets.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics, engineering, and surveying principles and practices.
  • Proficient with computer operations, identifying and referencing City ordinances regarding subdivisions, zoning, hillsides, ground water, traffic control devices, survey methods, etc.
  • Following verbal and written instructions; working independently with little supervision; task prioritizing to meet deadlines; establishing effective working relationships with professionals, employees and the public; using correct judgment, tactful communication, knowledge of city code, and understanding of general accepted engineering standards and practices; and the proper care, condition, and use of resources, materials, equipment, real property, tools and budgets.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, while presenting technical data that may influence important decisions; furnishing to and obtaining information from other City departments, developers, citizens, professionals, and other governmental jurisdictions; using tact and good judgment, with a well-developed sense of strategy and timing to avoid friction and meet the needs of the City and development.
  • Regular use of computer, printer, plan review software, telephone, and City vehicle.
  • Possible use of survey equipment and drones.
  • Ability to apply complex concepts to achieve acceptable outcomes and performance of assigned duties.
