About The Position

Hillels of Georgia seeks a personable and motivated Development Officer to join our team. This mid-career role is perfect for someone who thrives on building relationships, planning meaningful gatherings, and connecting stakeholders to Jewish life on campus. The Development Officer will primarily focus on engaging parents of current Hillels of Georgia students, as well as Jewish alumni from our network of schools. The role involves frequent donor meetings, small-scale event planning, and prospect research to grow Hillel’s development pipeline. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys meeting new people, can walk into any room and connect, and is energized by telling the story of Jewish student life on campus. The Development Officer will also support the overall fundraising efforts for Hillels of Georgia and will report directly to the Chief Development Officer. The Development Officer will also play a key role in Hillels of Georgia’s upcoming comprehensive campaign, which will include the annual fund, a capital campaign, and a robust endowment campaign. This position is based in Atlanta, with regular collaboration with campus teams, especially the Campus Directors. Occasional travel to visit non-Atlanta campuses, as well as other cities with large populations of Hillels of Georgia parents/alumni will be required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in fundraising, alumni relations, community engagement, or a related field.
  • Strong relationship-building skills; confident and comfortable meeting with a wide range of people.
  • Event planning experience.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Outstanding communication and storytelling skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with donor databases or CRM systems (training provided).
  • Ability to work some evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with legacy and/or capital campaigns is preferable.
  • Familiarity with the Atlanta Jewish community is preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and steward relationships with Jewish alumni and parents of current students, increasing the current number of donors by at least 10% per year.
  • Conduct regular individual donor meetings (in-person and virtual), focusing on cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation in meeting Hillels of Georgia’s annual development goals.
  • Arrange introductions between potential major donors and the Hillel campus professionals.
  • Work within CRM (Little Green Light) inputting new gifts and handling other duties as assigned.
  • Serve as a warm and professional representative of Hillels of Georgia.
  • Plan and execute alumni and parent-focused gatherings, parlor meetings, and development events.
  • Solicit and cultivate donors under $5400, in coordination with the Chief Development Officer.
  • Play key role in soliciting sponsors for the annual Stand with Hillel gala, as well as working with the event co-chairs on event planning details.
  • Coordinate campus visit experiences for alumni and parents in collaboration with the campus teams.
  • Partner with campus staff to connect donors with students and campus programs.
  • Identify and research new donor prospects within the alumni and parent community.
  • Track interactions and maintain accurate donor records in the CRM system (Little Green Light).
  • Help develop moves management strategies for annual donors.
  • Cultivating strong relationships with the University Development and Alumni Relations offices and finding opportunities for collaboration.
  • Working with the Campus Directors to identify additional grant opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Chief Development Officer and the Hillels of Georgia leadership team to reach our annual fundraising campaign goals.
  • Provide support for all Hillels of Georgia development efforts, including the annual gala and the comprehensive campaign.
